I'm Richard, and I'm a pet parent on a mission to help you provide the best possible care for your pets.

If you clicked on this page, you’re probably wondering about my background and why I’m so passionate about all things pet-related. So, let me tell you a little bit about myself.

A Family Full
of Pets

Growing up, I always had pets. My first dog was a boisterous boxer named Seamus who was my constant companion as a kid. And as I grew older, more and more pets joined our family.

At various times during my childhood, I shared my home with dogs, cats, rabbits, hamsters, guinea pigs, and even a pet beetle (true story). I learned a lot from my furry (and not-so-furry) friends during my formative years. They taught me about love, companionship, responsibility, and the joy that comes from taking care of another living creature.

But it wasn’t until I became a pet parent myself that I truly understood the challenges and rewards that come with pet parenthood. After finishing university in the UK, I set out on an adventure to teach English in South Korea. It was during this time that I adopted my first dog, a scruffy little shelter pug who I named Bertie.

Bertie was my loyal sidekick during my time in Korea. He travelled with me on buses and trains, went hiking with me on the weekends, and even slept in my bed at night. He quickly became a beloved member of our little expat community, and everyone knew his name.

When I moved back to the UK a few years later, Bertie came with me (thankfully he was small enough to fit right under the plane seat during the flight)! Taking care of Bertie taught me so much about being a responsible pet parent, and it’s an experience that I wouldn’t trade for anything in the world.

As a former street dog, Bertie had a lot of challenges to overcome, but he was always happy and loving. He showed me that no matter what life throws your way, there’s always room for a little bit of love (and a lot of belly rubs).

Through my experiences with Bertie, I became involved in animal rescue and welfare. And one way I was able to help rescue organizations was by volunteering as a writer to create content for their websites and social media platforms. Writing had always been a passion of mine, and I was grateful for the chance to use my skills to help pets in need find their forever homes.

Down the Rabbit Hole

That’s when I went down the rabbit hole of pet content writing, and I’ve been at it ever since. Fast forward to today, and I’ve written hundreds of pet articles for major publications in the pet and veterinary space. I’ve also been fortunate enough to turn my passion for writing and animals into a full-time career. And over the years, I’ve had the pleasure of working with dozens of amazing pet brands.

My experience as a pet parent, coupled with my professional background in the pet industry, has given me a unique perspective on the world of pet care. I’m fascinated by how we can enhance pets’ lives through better nutrition, increased physical activity, mental stimulation, and companionship. And I love sharing my knowledge and advice with other pet parents.

That’s why I created this blog – to provide you with information, tips, and resources that will help you take the best possible care of your pets. Because pets are a part of the family, and they deserve the very best.

Whether you’re a first-time pet parent or you’ve been sharing your life with animals for years, I hope you find my articles helpful, informative, and enjoyable to read. And most importantly, I hope they give you the confidence and knowledge to provide your pets with the best possible care.

Thanks for reading!
